First photos with the Olympus XA

These are from a roll of cheap Walgreens 400 film. Got the cam off the
'bay for $41 and am quite pleased that it works with no issues, other
than me of course.😀

and a pic of the little guy:

Scans were at 2400dpi on my Epson 4490.

Congrats. It's a great little camera, isn't it? Your test shots are a lot better than mine usually are. I especially like that second one. It reminds me that I should go shoot some color sometime soon.

Sweet little camera, capable of some great images. And so discreet! I'm the original owner of mine, and it's still going strong after 25 years (OK, so there are some chips on the paint, and the rf patch is barely visible, but it's still a great little shooter).

i'm awaiting the results of my first roll too!
although i think mines has a strange over exposure problem, i've already switched out the original batteries for silver oxides

Hummm, lost my post so will try it again. Thanks, fellas, for your comments! There are 3 things I like about this cam:

1. Silver oxide 357 batteries are cheap and easy to obtain from the 'bay
or Wallies.

2. Film transport is not schizophrenic like with my two 35RCs, seems to
be the same system as my Trip 35.

3. The cam is in stealth black and quite small and unobtrusive!

Will be putting an order into Freestyle for some Arista Premium and color
film. Wonder how this cam does with slide film...

I bracketed most shots so have very few different looking ones, but here's
another where I tested the cam for handling flare:

Not bad considering there's no hood, lens coating must be very good indeed. With this wonky winter light, I definitely need to be trying some
black and white film.

I really like my XA and really don't go anywhere without it since it is so small. I even wear it on a cord around my neck when I'm on my motorcycle. I'm trying Arista Premium 100 right now and looking forward to some nice sharp pix.

the focus distance numbers are upside down and half the numbers around the lens ring are upside down.

Otherwise, it takes very nice pictures, and the price was certainly good for an XA with no other issues. Get those numbers right side up and you can probably double your money easily.

If you can't fix that, I'll give you what you paid for it.:angel:

Great little cameras. Just had my own XA out today and finished off a roll of cheap Fuji Superia 400. Thinking I might send the camera off to the spa now, as it's not had tune-up since I got it.

I believe he meant it as a joke - which didn't translate well on the internet.

Yep - the words "Made in Japan" are definitely upside down on the lens fascia and the distance markings face correctly for the photographer.
