please post more pics! so that I wouldn't change my mind about getting an RD-1 myself... (2 weeks...2 weeks...) I notice though, in your night shots (last post) you seem to have lots of dead/hot pixels... have you upgraded to the RD-1s firmware? To map the pixels out? Just wondering how good the pixel mapping feature works...

Wow, you must have amazing eyes... Prior to purchasing this camera it was serviced by Epson here in Japan. 100% crops show me no hot pixels, only noise.
If you're referring to the first picture's kind of top left, they are actually reflected lights on the window...
Oh, and you could take these photos with a crappy point and shoot, it's got nothing to do with the camera. If the R-D1 fits your style, and you like it then other peoples photos shouldn't be a factor in deciding cameras. I've only been taking photos for a year now and have whatever DSLR's / medium format I need to get the job done. Just my 2 cents.

No, not the first pic, the 4th and 5th pic. There are three dots in the dark portion of the table, and you can faintly make out those same three dots in the 4th picture... though, oddly, I can't see those same three dots in the other pics... maybe it has something to do with the high ISO? Oh well, nice shots still! And yes, I intend to have fun with the RD-1, with my DSLR for the serious shoots that pays...

Cool, you'll really enjoy the camera. I was weighing up an M8 too, but decided to go with the R-D1. Now I'm planning to get the M8 in the not too distant future as well as keep the R-D1. My girlfriend has decided she likes the R-D1 a lot...

I intend to get an M8 in the future, though not until the price for it falls around the $1000 mark
But if Epson comes out with an RD-2 with the same manual feel, then that might skew my plans a bit!

I don't see the M8 falling to around the 1000 mark for a very long time, if it ever does.
