First photos with Yashica Minister-D

A friend of mine gave me a box full of old cameras. Most of them dont work but there where two cameras in the box that do, a Pentax K1000 and a Yashica Minister-D. I was very happy about the M-D cause I always wanted a rangefinder. I bought a Zorki 4 for 43 bucks on e-bay that was supposed to be in mint condition but the shutter leaks 🙁

So I was saving up for a rangefinder when this baby came along. I just put a Ilford Delta 100 in it and ran out to take some test shots. It works in every way exept the shutter and aperture ring is a bit stiff and needs some luping.

I was amazed by the quality this camera gave me after beeing in a papper box in a storage for over 15 years. I think this one will be hanging around my neck now for quite some time 😀

I just picked up a Minister-D too, right from the RFF classified forums. 🙂

I hope to be posts some shots as nice as this one in the next few days.

It was made in 1963 or 1964. it has a 45mm f2.8 lens on it.

The minister D was my first serious rangefinder. I think I was 19 or so and a friend brought it back from Japan for me. I still had the negatives and recently scanned them and posted on flickr. Quite a few are in my "most popular" ones that hit "Explore." I keep thinking I should try to find one. My is long gone. Nahhh... 3 Electros are enough Yashicas for anyone. Right? Hmmmm.....
