I managed to get out today and take my first picture which can be found on my siteJOHN WASHINGTON

I can only say that I am stunned by the quality of the file and I smiled when I opened them in ACR.

Now all I have to do is learn about zone focusing and I will be away.

looks good. Better than I've seen from that camera. Good thing it makes you happy, given its frightening pricetag.

Those are very nice. Please put them in the digital rf gallery if you dont mind.

thanks

I have toned it in PS using a Duotone. Other than that I have done the usual levels and curves correction. I must admit that I do use PS as much or as little as I think fit and according to what I want to achieve.

What really impressed me though was that the Raw file was very very nice to start with and I wasn't expecting that. I used the 35mm CV 1.7 Ultron which again I am very happy with.

So, after all the wait and worrying I feel fairly confident that this is a very good piece of gear. I also love the click sound of that shutter, it feels like something real is happening.

Whilst I am here, I must thank Sean Reid for his superb review at LL. It was that review that made me look at this camera in the first place. I then went on to subscribe to his other reviews because I wanted to see his long term report, which again was brill. I would recommend Sean's reviews to anyone - worth every penny (uk) dime (USA).

Also thanks to all on this forum. It is a great community here I must say.

Looks like a match made in heaven!

Congrats on getting such a great shot straight off; I can tell you're going to like this camera!

Incredible shot, John! The CV lenses are first rate. I also subscribe to Sean's Reid Reviews, and can echo your sentiment. It's a great site, and well worth the subscription price.

John and Jeff,

Thank you kindly. I've got the R-D1 long-term review in "rolling update" mode as I add information about the R-D1S, new firmware, initial review of PhotoRAW 1.2.1, etc.

BTW, I own the CV 28/1.9, 35/1.7 and 50/1.5. All three are bargains given their performance. They're part of the current tests I'm doing of ten RF lenses.

Cheers,

Sean
