I just got my first roll back from the developers and noticed that the pictures were all blurred as if they were out of focus. What is odd though is that it is in all the pictures whether from close to infinity and nothing really appears to be in focus. I hope it isn't a problem with my M2 and it was a bad job by the developers.

Here are a few examples:

The laptop keyboard should be in focus in this one.

This one should be at infinity.

They were all with my known good CV 35mm f/2.5 CS PII on Kodak 100 UC.

What do you guys think? I've done some unscientific testing and the rangefinder seems to be dead on. I tested focusing with my R4M, M2, Zorki 6 and they all match up. I got the M2 used and I don't when and if it ever went in for a CLA.

Hi, the M2 is just a light tight box to hold your lens, it won't make unsharp pictures. The last shot is sharp where did you focus that? And have you used the lens on any other bodies except to check the distance scale? Andrew.

The first one just looks like a bit of motion blur--it's indoors with 100-speed film after all, your shutter speed could not have been very fast. Second one, I dunno, it's maybe a little soft, but the last one looks fine.

I've used the 35mm on my R4M plenty without any problems. Maybe you guys are right about the motion blur I think the indoor shots were at 1/60th. I don't remember what the outdoors ones were shot at but it was kind of a dark cloudy day out and with 100iso film I might've been at 1/60. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Thanks a lot!

Bad processing can do many things, but it cannot change the focus of the image on film.

Maybe you should search for one of the several threads here on R/F adjustment.

If you can it's not a bad idea to get the M2 a CLA either, if you got that bad a shake @ 1/60 you might want to exercise more as well 😉 Congrat on having a fine piece of history though 😀

I didn't think I shook too bad. It could've been at 1/30th too. I'm not good at keeping track of the settings when I take pictures.

I'll probably send the M2 out for CLA soon. It isn't nice enough out here to get out and take too many pictures.
