These are my first Leica pics. As soon as I bought the M3 I wished I'd bought the M2. Perhaps I should give the 50mm a chance and see how I like it. Both the camera & lens are in "user" condition but the combo came in at under £300. And they seem to work.

Took these this morning on a quick stroll down the high street. Tmax in Rodinal 1+50 for 11 mins.

Apologies to anyone who finds cropping/borders offensive. 😛

SimonSE15,
I like your photos, and I use this same combo. There has
been several threads about this lens lately. You may want
to go back and read a few of them for some ideas about
the lens.

Really a great, under rated lens. I use it more frequently than my Canon 50/1.4, for which I paid an awful lot more.

Congrats on your purchase. Great set of photos, I love the first picture ... good light, and a priceless stare from the guy on the far left. Cheers.

Let me add my congrats on your Leica/Canon purchase, and congrats on the photos. Nice work!! I also have the Canon 50/1.8 lens, which I love, and enjoy using it on an M2. You've got a really nice kit. Shoot a ton of film w/ it.

wow, thanks all for your encouraging comments.

did you prefer the M2 due to the 35mm frameline?

Benny, yes. I want to use the Leica for street stuff so was thinking of mainly using 35mm, which is why I wanted the M2. But I also think I prefer being a bit further away from my subjects so 50mm works ok for the moment.

Nice one, is the lens the black or chrome version? I have the black and use it with my M3 and really enjoy it. Have you 'split toned' your images? Andrew.

Andrew, its the black one. Has some dust but ok so far. I don't use Lightroom so havent split toned. I used CS2 to adjust shadow/highlights though. I may have scanned them as colour images, Im not sure, scanning is not my strong point!

Thanks Bingley, I will. 🙂

here's one I dont like. a few of the images had quite blown highlights like this and worse. any thoughts if this is due to:

a) overexposure
b) poor lens performance
c) bad developing
d) bad scanning
e) a combination of the above?
