I recently sold my m4-2, Bessa and a lot of other stuff. Plan is not to have so much ...(heard that one before, have you:angel: ) Anyway; I ended up with a new ZI-beauty, with a CV 12 and a ZM2/50 (so far). Had nothing, but Ilford XP2 in the fridge, so that was it. I´ll have to rescan, I guess, followed the same routine as with T-Max and other trad. bw - scanned as positive and then "turned" it in PS before prosessing. The shadow-areas come up with some really ugly grain in some pics.

But; I´m really happy with some of the pics. The one here was taken at my old mother´s my kids and my son´s girlfriend visiting. Low light, slow speed, but some nice skin-tones, eh?

Congratulations and I hope your really enjoy your ZI! I do!

Leaf e ..... absolutely great rendition, the blacks are so nice and creamy and the skins tones are the best. Was that the 50? If so it is a wonderful lens I'm hoping to get a 35 f2 soon.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thank you, all!
Yes, it was the 50 - and I love that lens. When it comes to the 12, I´m not that sure. haven´t given it much of a chance yet, though ...

Btw.: I have the ZF 1,4 50 Planar for Nikon as well - great sharpnes AND lovely bokeh.

Welcome mate!

Welcome mate!

I am sure you are going love this camera.
Gave me some wonderful shots already considering that I only had it for just a few months.

Leif,

What do you believe are the main benefits of the ZI over the Bessa in terms of day to day shooting? Also, do you see a different role for the FM3A in your overall kit?

Thanks

I don't think that there are big benefits. The FM3a is an excellent camera & with the 45/2.8P Nikkor, it's as compact as a rangefinder.

I tend to use my ZI for available light & the FM3a when I'm shooting flash. sometimes I have color film in one & B&W in the other.

IMO the main advantage of a rangefinder camera is that you can use lenses on it like Sonnars & Biogons that that can't be used on an SLR. I like fooling around with different looks. There are other features that some people value but that don't matter to me.
