From the LeicaRumors.com Noctilux-leak newsbit:
Note the TWO red markings on the SS-dial?
There's your snapsot-mode.
And the new (old) covering material is there, and the Black Dot.
Is this Old News, or am I REALLY the first to notice this?

Okay, I read about it earlier, didn't realise that the Norwegians had the photo too.
And yes, it IS a bit disappointing, isn't it?

Doesn't look any different from the 8.0. Except for the big ugly lens in front.

Well, if you should buy one and it comes with an unwanted big ugly lens on the front, I'll give you $100 for itDoesn't look any different from the 8.0. Except for the big ugly lens in front.

The best camera is one that still works!
It's tragic that anything that costs this much looks so drab ... where's all the bling!

I think the lens is supposed to be a 21mm ASPH, not the new Noctilux f0.95 (if that is what you mean,) because Leica is also supposed to be (re)introducing a 21mm and 24mm accessory viewfinder along with the M8.2, and a 1.4x magnifier that will make a 0.72 viewfinder a 1:1 setup (i.e. two-eyed shooting ala M3.) The M8.2's finder is slightly smaller than 0.72, so it won't be quite 1:1. The accessory finders are supposed to have brightlines for use of the 21mm and 24mm lenses with the M8, as well as standard brightlines.
But the element on the lens, even for a 21mm, does seem a little screwy looking. The description I read was translated from Polish and included this line: "In connection with the emergence of new wide-angle lens Leica introduces new accessories for sale to the system M." So I don't know if that is some kind of new 21mm lens on the front of that M8 or not. Might explain the strangeness of the front element.

Many will disagree with me but I too like my M8 with a little red Leicanista bling!...
Maybe they will come out with a little red velvet rope as an M8.2 upgrade...

If you were first, what significance would that have had on your pictures or your life?

The M3 has a 0.90 magnification, so it's not quite 1:1, but close. I've never been able to keep both eyes open except with true 1:1 viewfinders like the Nikon SP.

If the black dot now is standard are we going to see scores of threads inquiring how to get free red dots from Leica and replace the black?

Actually, I don't think it's Photoshop (this is what the new 21mm f/1.4 lens looks like) and the finder looks fine to me (21 x 1.33 = 28).

Bill, Is that a 28 or 21 external finder? I can't tell from the photo, but it might be that's the thing to which Jaapv was referring?

It's not real clear, but on my screen is looks like a 28mm black chrome (metal) Leitz finder.
But I have been wrong before...

There is a similar picture here -

This one clearly has the wrong finder (unless Leica is coming out with a series of M8 cropped accessory finders).
