Hi All...
The pix are on Superior 200, and Left to Right they are:

- Windmill in Yemin Moshe, an upscale Jerusalem neighborhood.
- Stone steps with flare spot; I was shooting into late afternoon sun.
- Stone steps with crop at top edge.

So, for the first time out, I'm delighted with sharpness & color rendition.

Do you miss the rangefinder coupling? I am trying to decide whether to go 21mm or 25mm and if 25mm it would be the uncoupled lens. I know DoF is huge but focussing gets to be a habit.

Hi mike_j,
It's amazing how quickly I got used to the 3 click stops of 3, 1.5 & 1 meters.
Also, the original Voigtlander 25mm VF included with the CQ purchase,
is excellent.
If a coupled version is important to you, wait until April. The new one, however,
will be larger, heavier and more expensive.
Ciao, mike

I never had a problem with the 25 being non-coupled - it's a great system for zone focusing. A 25 on a AE body would be a killer street shooting machine!

Looking good, Mike!

Looking good, Mike! I only got nervous about focusing when wide open and for nearer subjects. This has been a perfect "tourist" lens! :)

Hi... I'm going to accept that from 1 meter down to .07, I've got to be careful at wide open. It may be useful to carry a small tape measure ;-) Or, switch to the Summaron 35/2.8 when accuracy close-in, is critical. mike

The only time I miss RF coupling is when I'm shooting indoors. The light is lower, and so the apertures larger (f4). On top of that, the distances are less. In short, DOF is less and guesstimating the correct focus becomes more critical, especially for portraits where focus has to be on the eyes..

Outdoors (f8) it's fine..

Well done, Mike. I am glad that you are enjoying your new lens. The crop shot of the stone stairs is very nice. It reminds me of the monochrome Vivian Avery prints hanging in my office building.

Nice shot of the steps, Mike. This is just another reminder as to why I will never stop using Black&White film.

I just bought one of these lenses along with a Bessa L. I have been too busy to take it out and try it yet. However, I shot with one on a Bessa L when they first came out and was very impressed with it.

That thing is wider than I thought it would be!
I'll have some first results from mine here soon.
I took my R2A mountain biking this past weekend, and had my 25/4 Skopar with me!
Thanks for posting these!

Could you please advise if these are scanned negatives or prints, and what scanner?

Very impressed!

Thanks.
Steve.

Hi Steve & all,
The thumbnail pix were scanned from Superior 200 to CD by my 1-hour lab in a nearby mall. Their neg dev + scans are quite good; however I don't know what kind of scanner they use. Very likely it is of commercial heft, since they are making hundreds of scans, every day.

From what I've read here and in DSLRx, the scanners most commonly used for home use are the Nikon Coolscan V ED and the KM Scan Dual IV.

As for the CV 25/4, it is a truly a great lens. Tho' some guys like the wider and more expensive 21mm, I just don't 'see' that wide. Going towards so-called normal range, some guys are in love with their 35/2.5's... and others with the Nokton 40.

Enjoy & ciao, mike
