First roll from my Yashica Mat

Hello, everyone!

After months and months of following this forum and falling deep into the medium and large format universe, I finally got developed and scanned the first roll (reala 100) from my Yashica Mat.

I'm quite happy with the results, right now just trying to get used to the square format.

Here are some of the shots from this first roll. Any advice, critics, suggestions... are very welcome.

Very good, especially for a first effort! My experience with a Yashica Mat taught me to always use a hood as they can be prone to flare.

The cable release uses the same sort of fitment as Leicas and some Nikons. You won't often find them advertised as "Yashica cable release" but a search for "Leica cable release" should bring up a few candidates.

Be careful when buying a hood too. I found that *genuine* Rollei Bay 1 hoods wouldn't fit as they are designed to go over slightly thinner lugs. I had no such problems with a genuine Yashica hood or any of the several third-party hoods that have passed through my hands.

Photos look good. I once had a Yashica MAT 124G and loved it. It looks like you are going to really enjoy yours too.

Cable-release adapters for shutter buttons without threaded holes are not hard to find. They're known as "Leica nipples." The screw thread around the Leica and Yashica shutter buttons are identical.

Great photos. I studied a long time the one with parked cars on top of a building. The image embodies a rhythm that I cannot explain but I enjoy very much.

Yashica TLR needs a lens hood and one thing I learned with my Yashicas is not to use a UV filter. For some reason the filter can create light leak type of symptoms.
