hey sbegueria, I just had a look through your blog and am loving the photos even more. your shots with the cv25 look amazing. I was considering getting one as well but am scared its going to be another flat 3rd party lens. I have copped out before and bought the off name brand and it was a bad idea. lots of them are for sale at a store here for decent prices. anyone else have any experience with the cv's? is it worth buying or should I invest in a full contax G setup and use the trusty zeiss lenses for wide angle?

What can I say about the CV25... it has very nice qualities to me, despite a rather flimsy touch of the aperture ring. For being a 25 mm, it is almost free of geometric distortions and the IQ does not diminish in the corners (to my naked eye at least). It's an f/4, so you can forget about the nice out-of-focus rendering of the Summicron-c you already have; but that's not the purpose of this kind of lens, anyway. In my case, I wanted a wide angle for street snapshots at a good prize, and that's exactly what this lens is. At this prize, why don't you get yourself one and try it for a while? You can always sell it off if you don't like it afterwards.

sadly my budget doesnt allow me to "try" any product out unless its borrowed. I have to save over a few months time and can only afford to make a purhase I know is right. The cv 25 is looking better and better though!

I don't think it's sad. The more time you'll spend with just one lens the more you'll know about it and about what interests you on photography. Enjoy your new camera.
 
since I started the thread... just to keep it up to date...
I've been shooting regularly with the CL these last two or three months, and I know now what a good purchase I did. I love this little camera. I am using the CV 25mm almost all the time, not because of the rendering but because I very much like the angle of view it gives, I find it perfect for the kind of street pictures I am working in.

BTW, mcctoronto, what did you do in the end? I'm just so used to the bright external VF of the CV25 that I don't like anymore looking through the vf of my slrs...

I cannot agree more with Palec. Get one camera and one lens, and go take pictures until you can compose without even looking through the VF.
