First roll with a Zorki 6

Well, I got my Zorki 6 with I-50 f3.5 collapsible in time for the weekend and shot off a test roll. Most of the shots are pretty boring but the camera and lens seemed to perform pretty well (the photographer less so - I'm not used to manual exposure, and so stuffed that up on four or five frames).

Here's one that at least has a person in-frame (my friend Jim, in his front garden):

I also picked up a Jupiter 8 (with broken Zorki 4 as a lens cap). That's on the camera now, so I'll see how that works out (I like the collapsible for compactness, but I'd like the near-stop of wider aperture as an option).

I loved using my Zorki 6. It's a good shape and an I61LD makes it shine. BTW Jim looks like he may well become collapsible too.

I think Jim and I both collapsed the night before, under the influence of wine, whiskey and who knows what else. This was the beginning of the recovery phase.

I dunno. I get that same look alot when folks find out I'm taking pictures with 50 year old Russian film cameras. 😎

There seems to be quite a bit of FRF at the moment (First Roll Fever) - Nice one. I got that look also Reagan when I was taking readings with a 2002 Flash meter then pulled out a 1963 Rangefinder - rather like using a Formula 1 Engine starter in the place of a Crank handle in an old Morris Minor - LOL ..

Looks like you have a nice worker there Mike, so many have some shutter or exposure problems. 6s and 5s are becoming my choice of shooter at the moment, but the slightly stiff, jerky shutter release of the 6 is a small drawback.
Did this work as supplied or was it CLA'd prior to it arrival into your hands?

Worked as supplied. Film wind and shutter setting & release are fine - but the viewfinder is a bit dim and murky. Focus is spot-on, though.

I like the Zorki 6. It's a nice size and shape and it just feels right. But mine destroyed the first film I put in it.
It was a 36 exposure film and it just takes up too much space inside the camera until there is no more room and it snapped.

Am I right in thinking you can't use 36 films?

Yet despite that I did still like it and got some good results from it.
Next time I think I'll be sticking to 24's.

I think I was using my J8 on it at the time. This was what I did with it...
