Just bought a new 4990 scanner this weekend. I picked the epson because I have a lot of medium format scans to do. Anyway I thought I'd post a few examples for anyone who has a nasty case of GAS. 1 picture is with the CV 75 color heliar, another with the 35 ultron and one with a pentax 67, if you guess them all correctly you get to never have a social life - ever.

Nice scans.

My guess: Pentax, Ultron, Heliar, moving from left to right. I hope I'm wrong, because I could use a social life :)

Very good results and superb shots as well. Nice one Toby. Add them to your gallery (if you have not already done so)

The 75 is a cracking lens, I pondered it a while having got the 90 Lanthar that was also very good. From my limited experience with it I think its a stunning piece of glass. Not 'that' much bigger than some 50's even with the hood attached (as it should be).

Social life or not, the Heliar is teasing me ...

Nice photos, I like the mother in particular.

Best,

Roland.

so far no one's even close - that colour heliar is a really good lens

You made a good choice. I have been promoting the virtues of the Epson scanners for some time on this board.

Good scans for web presentation, I hope full resolution scans are also good. And nice pics as well.
My guess is (left to right): heliar, pentax, ultron. (Though I dunno what is a social life and is it good or bad not having one)
Eduard.

cracking shots. pixel peepers can whine all they like but results like those are fine for the rest of us.

im set on getting a 4490. im totally convinced on b/w butim still confused about color profile. my understanding it scan without any enhancement and increase saturation and sharpening in PS. really dont wanna mess with color balance. will give vuescan a go see if the colors are better, but really dont want another application on my computer
