Ha! Managed to work a deal with our good friends at the local camera store for trading my consignment sales and other items for a very nice R4 body, strap, and eveready case.🙂🙂🙂

Going to be one nice paperweight! 😉At least until I can get/borrow/steal a lens of some sort to use for awhile. I still have an 80 Lux R in my sights but will have to wait for sometime...🙁 KEh had one listed two days ago and it sold the next day...just as well because with no dough, it's no go.

Should pick it all up next week and will post some porn, completely naked with not even a lens so you can see inside.😛😛😛

Hey Dave. Congratulation on your new camera! 🙂
Best of luck and wish you many great pictures with it!
I can recommend you Summicron-r 50mm f/2 lens to put on it for the time being, affordable and very sharp. The "made in Canada" ones sometimes goes for a bit less even though there is absolutely no difference between the canada/germany made lenses as far as I see...
Regards,
b.

Thanks, Bobby...

I would love the Cron 50 F2. I am also looking at KEH where I can get either a 28-70 zoom or the 35-70 zoom for about the same money or a little less.

I have no idea which of the zoom lenses would be best although I like the wider 28 angle.🙂

It will be interesting to see how the R4 stacks up against the F3, it's contemporary of the same time period. I loved my F3/T, but the Leica both feels better and doesn't have the same goofy issues:

-LED light that either did not light up or lit dimly even if you could push it with a free finger somehow.

-Goofy flash attachment.

-Plastic backs...finally got KEH to exchange mine for the original titanium back.

Don't get me wrong. I love all my Nikons and the F3/T was really nice. Tough as nails. Oh, and the FA, manufactured during the same time is also a very nice camera. Borrowed one for an extended period of use a couple of years ago and would love to have one but, it was not as solid as the F3.

Nikon cameras of the time are great cameras, but there were no lenses like the 35 Lux or the 80 Lux so I have a feeling that the F3 body and the FA were outclassed and that is why the F4 came around at about the time of the R5. Nothing like a retro review with my own camera.😉

Now, where is that FA in KEH I just noticed the other day....
