hello,

i recently acquired a zorki 4 for next to nothing.

it is in really great condition except for a sticky Industar 50 (which i fixed), a missing film spool and a sticky shutter on the slow speeds.

i ran a test roll of 400ISO just for S&G to see if the faster speeds do indeed work. off to develop later in the week. I have been using my DSLR as a light meter. i taped the leader to the take-up thingie sans spool, BTW

i did download wolves3012's excellent guide on how to CLA this thing, but i think i would rather send it out to a pro. can anyone recommend a place to send it to? i was considering OK vintage camera, but heard he is no longer doing repairs...

i might also try it myself if i can get the parts.

what do y'all think?

thanks!!!:bang:

If all that's wrong is a sticky slow shutter it shouldn't be a difficult fix, there's probably nothing broken. Worth a try at DIY if you fancy it. It's hard to justify the cost of a CLA on such a cheap camera, unless it really means something to you.

great! thanks everybody!

i did just get an email from Oleg, and he is still repairing.

I also got the test roll i ran through this thing back. everything appears to be ok for the faster speeds. di not try to slow speed.

there are, however, some odd white/blue lines on the prints, though. looking at the negatives, they do not appear to be scratched. there are some dark lines on the negs... any idea if this is hte film, the camera or the processing? the film is fuji superia 400. i ahave noticed this a little bit with the same film at the same processor but with a different camera.
