Hey all.

Quick question: what's a good fixer to use with Tri-X? I'm going to be developing my own film for the first time in a loooong while ( as soon as my LFN wetting agent arrives ), and have some standard Kodak fix, as it's what I've always used in the past. I'll be developing the film with Prescysol EF, but will also be using some Rodinal ( an old favorite ) on other stuff ( HP5 and I'm sure a roll or two of Tri-X).

Is Kodak fixitive adequate, or is there something better?

Thanks,
JP

Use anything, the only requirement for it is to be FRESH (Max 10 rolls). That's actually a developer that makes the difference. I used Microdol for a while and now switched to Rodinal 1+50 - fantastic grain!!!

If it's Kodak Rapid Fix, leave out the hardener (the wee bottle at the bottom of the pack) for shorter wash times. Reasonable people differ on the need for hardener, but leaving it out has never caused problems for me.

I use Ilford Hypam Rapid Fix. The brand doesn't have to match the name of the film. I like that it comes in a convenient liquid.
