Fixing/Hacking a 3.5 Tessar coll.?

I found myself a very nice-looking CZJ Tessar 3.5 collapsible the other day for dirt cheap, but....

There is no lens mount, meaning the ring with the little tab that slides up and down the barrel of the lens, and allows one to mount it on a camera.

Is it possible to cannibalize a Soviet lens part (collapsible Jupiter, maybe) to fix this? Or am I just stuck with a "project" lens?

As far as I know, there are no collapsible Jupiters, so you'll have to destroy a genuine Sonnar for it. Still, the latter are not that expensive, even more so if you find one with bad glass. If you could measure the diameter and barrel depth, I might see whether it will at least mechanically fit into a collapsible CZJ f/2.0 Sonnar mount. But even if it does, it might still fail to focus, and you won't figure that out until you attempt it.

There was a collapsible version of the Kiev mount J8, actually still designated as Zorki ZK, produced in 1948-49, but they are scarce enough that a good one would probably cost more than a slightly ratty Sonnar.

Graft of a Sonnar collapsible lens mount (and locking ring) onto my Tessar. Test shots have been made...

Looking ring on eturnity focus, then scale on camera will work for you.
Try it out with a magnifier and some matte paper/plastic tejped on film plane.
Tripod helps greatly.
