Fixing lens wobble on Minolta Hi matic 7sII

7SII Repair

The shutter speed ring lifts up easily and the front part is kind of loose. Any ideas? Links? Thanks.
I think this is a problem with the 7SII.
I bought mine with a similar problem,(cheap) but it was so bad the wires to the meter had worn through, the front of the lens element had almost fallen off.
You will need a rangefinder spanner to undo the retaining ring around the front lens element. There are two tiny grooves that you could try a jewellers screwdriver in, just in case its loose. be very careful, you are close to the front element.!! I could not find anything on the web to help me, or anyone on Rangefinder forum to help.
Once you get the ring off the front its quite straightforward.
A retaing ring i think will need tightening, and the screw that stops it moving
(This may or may not be behind front lens element)will want a bit of clear nail polish on to stop it moving again.
Cant really remember its that long ago.
Getting a spanner would be a good step.
Or you could sell it to me?
Happy Tinkering........

It's fixed. While doing the repair work the aperture stuck on a constant opening. Took off the top and bottom and it worked itself back to normal. I wonder why this happened? Noticed that when it stuck the meter needle was between f16-f11. Taking off the plates brought it back to f1.7. I'm perplexed. But happy that it works now. Thanks.

Congrats on getting your 7sII up and running. I know that I really enjoy shootting with mine. I hope mine doesn't develope a problem like this. The lens is solid so far.
