Flash Bulbs Anyone?

So I am cutting back on STUFF. I’ve got two 56 QT bins full of flash bulbs.

I’ve spent about 20 years collecting boxes of flash bulbs in hopes of using them to paint light on unsuspecting subjects (night time landscapes).

Time for new dreams and my flashbulbs to find some who will:
1) Use them
2) Add to a collection of camera and display them
3) ???????

All I ask is you pay the postage, I’ll box them up and send them to their hew home.

I don’t want to make money, I don’t want to recoup my investment, I want someone to use these and create some great stuff.

Flash bulbs have a wonderful long burn time that allows you to paint the light by moving the flash gun and firing it off as it moves.

I’ve got 5, 5B, AG1, AG1B and several others.

I’m in 52556 (lower left arm pit of Iowa) and am selling old Apple stuff and other things on Evil Bay these days so I get to the post office often.

Happy to send stuff out and you can send cash if you like.

SO, any folks out there who want to try? It might be a lot of fun with a digital camera, long exposure, fire the gun by hand.

I'm not going to start a new old hobby. But it is very considerate to offer these bulbs. There is something way better about a bare bulb than a bare electronic flash. And that applies to even the lowly AG-1. Someone will be very happy to get these.

I've repaired the dried out electrolytic capacitors in a few flash units over the years, and used a few collected flash bulbs on unsuspecting family and friends. The reaction is always that flash bulbs are unexpectedly bright.

I would like a few bulbs, but I can't take 56 quart bins of them. I'll PM you if you don't mind sending out a few bulbs, maybe a box or two of each type. Let me know if that can work for you.

A few years ago I bought a stock of bulbs and tried them out of nostalgia.

The result were poor because the light was too harsh.
Evidently I was not good enough.
It is quite different from an electronic flash and I wish somebody could teach me how to use them to get a good lighting

As I understand it, cavers (aka spelunkers) prefer flash bulbs over electronic flash guns. You might try a site dedicated to cavers to find someone to take the bulbs off your hands.

We have one, in my wife's Brownie Hawkeye kit. We're saving it until there are no more left and then plan to make a million bucks. Very nice of you to offer though.

I've been saying for years I'm probably the Midwest's largest collector (IE, hoarder) of #5 flashbulbs but it sounds like you have quite a few also. Been a few years since I've used any though; these days for light painting I have a ridiculously expensive flashlight that will do any color in the spectrum so the bulbs mostly stay at home looking nice in their boxes.

Cavers (we prefer "caver" to "spelunker") who are serious photographers use flashbulbs extensively. A quick note to the folks at the Iowa grotto will find a happy new owner of those flashbulbs.
