I'm not a fan of using flash, but tomorrow i'll be photographing some indoors at night, so i'm not sure what to do, i've loaded a kodak 400 color film, and i bought it kinda fast because fast is mroe sensitive and percieves more light in a shorter time, all i want to say is that i'm trying to avoid using flash...

My camera is a fed 2, so what if i used a wide aperture and a 1/60 shutter speed?? And if i used flash with a fast film, can i use a shutter speed of 1/250 and a smaller aperture??

It's my 1st indoor experience with that fed...And i don't want to screw the photos, so there's practically no time for experiments. I don't process my films, i send them to a lab so there's no time to try it on a roll...

I've never used flash before, and the thought of buying it didn't occur to me, but i found one home, it;s national PE 202, i guess it's probably as old as the camera

Hmm if i am not wrong the flash sync of the Fed 2 is 1/30, that means u can't shoot at any speed faster than 1/30.

if u have an auto flash just set the aperture recommended by the flash, set the shutter speed to 1/30 and fire away !

If there is enough light you should be able to shoot without flash. And if you want to be certain you can shoot without flash, get a faster film, 800 speed or faster. You don't say what you are taking pictures of but if it is something that is not moving, use a tripod and use a very slow shutter speed.

Well that's right the shutter speed for flash sync is 1/30, i changed the aperture depending on the focus, still i wasn't comfortable with it, it was bit tight..

RichardS indeed gettin a faster film sounds a better idea but i can't find anything faster than 400 here, when i was in canada the 800, 1600 were available but not widely avaialbe, u can't get them anywhere but not as the 400 since most automatic cameras recommend it..

Same here there is 800and 1600 but it's not easy to find them. More expensive and most people are on digital works..

I've just developped the film, i increased the exposure by 1 step than the indicated on the flash...It worked great

I've tried without flash and that didn't work at all, and then with the exact flash incdications and that made the pics look dim...Now i guess no further problem with flash...
