I have a GA645zi which I use for shooting where I need the quicker focus eg family, birthdays etc. I love the resulting shots although it's not a camera I feel good shooting with.

Anyway with it 4.5-6.9 lens I find myself always running out of light indoors and while the built in flash is pretty good I much prefer more power and also the ability to bounce both in 4.5 x 6 and 6 x 4.5 - which I tend to shoot quite often eg the camera on its side.

I had a look at the Strobe GA but that won't swivel so I thought about a Nikon SB26 or SB28 perhaps.

Does anyone have some suggestions for a powerful with the ability to bounce and swivel that would work on the old Fuji GA645zi?

Thanks for your help.

Any modern flash with an auto and/or manual mode will work fine. Even though it does not bounce or swivel, the built-in flash actually works quite well. I have also used Delta 3200 in the camera quite successfully by setting it at iso 1600 and -1 exposure compensation to get to 3200.

Thanks - I've enjoyed your photos on flickr :)

I've used the in-built flash heaps but I don't like the look of it - much prefer to bounce when I use flash. On 35mm I tend to use fast lens to avoid having to use flash at all but MF lenses make that harder.

I might try an old SB-26 or something and see how I go.

Thanks for your help.

When traveling, I would use my Leica SF20 with the GA645zi (they both used the same batteries, so the flash was the "spare" battery for the camera). Just set the flash to Auto, match the ISO and aperture, and it worked just fine. I don't think theres any TTL option, so your SB-26 should be just fine.
