Flash for R3A

Hi, I have seen similar thread before, but it was not resolved completelly. I was trying to use two flashes with my R3A, one was small Voigtlander (forgot a symbol) another also small Rollei 100XL with a single pin. They did not work! I don't think it's the camera because my Canon 300TL (old model for SLR) does work.
I don't need a big SLR kind of flash. Is there anything out there that is small and does work with my camera? Even with guide number around 20.

I'd love to know what flash people had luck with...esp. for candid action (vis-a-vis 30's-50's street news! Love that look)...

I actually use my r3a with studio flash all the time via a sync cord. You may want to just get an adapter to use that it might be cheaper than an whole new flash.

Also my sunpak 422d works as well as the flash for my konica hexar af

Main reasons for small flash for me would be the size (something I can carry in my packet) and price. The two that did not work were both small and cheap (less than $10 on E-bay). I guess something like Leica flash for $200 would propably work, but.....

It might be a good idea to try something with adaptor, I guess I will keep trying.
