Its too bad that the Thumbs Up CSEP-4 is a dual cold shoe and wouldn't talk to the pocket wizard. I wonder if it would be something that could be modified.

Only thing I'm guessing is that they could design the metal insert which normally goes into the hot shoe to be meant for the hot shoe of the pocket wizard and then run the metal down the left hand side for another cold shoe. I doubt there are many people who would really need exactly this so it might be epoxy for me.
I could care less what my M8 looks like so long as it allows me to take the pics I want... but I would prefer not to epoxy my camera.

Yeah, with the exception of my last two shots posted to Flickr I have shot everything by guessing. It works out ok but I would prefer to use a little bit less guesswork.
So you already know what the force is (it's not guesswork) and you have the gift to use it (pizzazz!), you just gotta figure out how to trust it, Luke!
On the other hand, my hunch is that the tricked out set-up just adds to your cred and rapport with the people you are photographing!

Ha ha! Yeah if they didn't think I was a pro before, they see the velcro and silver cold shoe and KNOW I'm not messing around!

Is there adequate clearance on the two-shoe adapter for the transmitter and the VF side by side? I'm thinking not. That PW looks pretty wide. Isn't there a cold shoe on the top of the PW? Ok, so you'll some parallax trouble, but it's better than guessing.

Just a teensy weensy bit of blockage. Almost nothing.

You might consider the two-sided tape used for car trim, the same stuff they use for the thumbie. Apparently it is strong enough to hold the grip on the camera and it's not perminant.

Looks like The Meaness beat me to this, but I was going to recommend the two-sided car trim tape made by 3M. That is quite strong, is what the Thumbie uses, doesn't mar the finish and can be removed with a twist later on if you decide to sell your camera.

Well, a big "thank you" to you The Meaness, gehrm, and JAAPV from the Leica forum, because of you guys I marched my butt down to the Auto Parts store and bought some 3M double sided tape as you recommended. The stuff below is Grade 2 of 4 and was the only stuff they had. I'm not sure if 1 or 4 is the most heavy duty but 2 is pretty damn strong and sticky.

Here is a shot of my Cold shoe with the nice little metal fastener. This is important to have as my crappy Voigtlander VF slides right through the shoe without it. I bought the cold shoe you recommended but discovered mine is a little more advantageous with the extra height. It accomodates my MiniTT1 perfectly, allowing me to able to place the VF closer to the transmitter.

Someone else question whether or not the VF would cover up the EOL indicator / exposure counter. By placing the VF towards the front lip of the camera this allowed me to have almost full view of the little screen so no problems there.

All-in-all I'm pretty happy with the turnout. It's not the sexiest thing you'll ever lay eyes on to be sure, but it's nice to know in a pinch any of us can spend a couple bucks at the store and having a working VF/Pocketwizard combo.

So what if my purist Leica M has started to look like the unfinished Death Star...

See you on the street!
