I just picked up a gorgeous Exakta mount 20mm f4 Flektogon with the Exakta mount. When i depress the external shutter release/diaphram activation button on the lens, the lens does not stop down. The aperture closes when i set it, but the result is that i have a manual aperture (stop down) lens. This does not seem right. Is this normal? If as i suspect it is not, does anyone have a DIY fix?
Regards
Steed

If you press the button all the way down you can rotate the serrated ring around it clockwise until it stops. You will then see that the ring around the button is elevated. That is the way you activate the auto function on this lens.

Thank you, Kai. I did exactly as you said, and a 360 degree turn of the serrated ring fixed the problem instantly. The release button went out further and the lens only stops down when the button is depressed. You are an Exakta genius, and an excellent contributor to this forum.

Thanks for your praise, Steed. As for the genius label I still think I have a long way to go. But I do own a few Exakta lenses and every make has its own quirks. Congrats on the Flektogon by the way, I think you'll like it. Once the rain stops I must get out with this lens on my Exakta VXIIa again.
