In the last 24 hours I've seen some odd happenings on Flickr that just can't be simply explained. Some of my Contacts feeds are multiple copies of the same image. Or Flickr says they've uploaded 77 photos, yet only three are displayed. Sometimes it takes an exorbitant amount of time for the main page to load, and sometimes the image blocks are blank. I tried to upload some photos myself this morning, and of six images, only one made it to the Uploader screen, while all the others timed out (more than once on three of them, since I hit the Retry button). I deleted them from the queue so they wouldn't be languishing in the Photostream.

My main thought is the winter like storm going on at the moment has connections all messed up between the various Flickr image farms (aka: storage servers) due to power outages and the like, probably causing all sorts of resetting failures.

Any thoughts on this?

PF

ps: kuuvy and akiva, yours are two of the feeds where the images are multiplied. Have you been resending them, thinking they didn't make it through the other times?

Mine has been playing up for a few weeks
Loading problems mostly of the non loading kind
Generally speaking I've found the service shocking the last twenty four months.

It’s been a real pain. Posted one shot and it’s added multiple copies. Keep having to delete them but doesn’t always work.
Uploaded some at work today that have been fine but tried again tonight at home and it did it again.

Not working as usual ... slow and difficult to see my own photos...slightly better to see other users photos...

I think I'm going to wait till tomorrow to try the Uploader again, when the storm has moved off from New England.

My newspaper this morning was three hours late because of wind damage over in Lynchburg where they moved the printing production to. After seeing the damage photos, I'm surprised it wasn't later. Looked like a small tornado went through the town, and on up into the next county.

I just noticed some photos in threads here linked from Flickr are showing blank for me....

Thanks .... useful thread.
I`ve been wondering what has been going on with Flickr for a few weeks.
Naturally one assumes its a local issue ....

I didn't try uploading yesterday, but recently have had weird issues, including not being able add tags in the uploader. Tonight, I was replying to someone in a discussion, but when I went to cut and paste his gallery url between square brackets, to identify/credit him, it didn't work, and when I tried again, saw that the url was just strange.

Mine often won't allow me to upload photos, the uploader says they're a bad file or something like that. Then it will work fine the next day.

The most unusual thing that I've seen recently was when I clicked on the thumbnail of one of my photos in my photostream the photo that opened was someone else's! It did this for a day then changed back to my own photo.

It does make you wonder what on earth is going on and why the company isn`t communicating with its clients.
Is Flickr still a major player ?
I really don`t know.

At this moment, it seems not possible to even get flickr.com to load. “Page won’t load, too many redirects” it says. More than wonky, simply gone. Would be curious to know if flickr.com is accessible to anyone at this moment.

Edit: Okay, it’s back now after 20 minutes. Never mind.

Just checked again: Flickr till working just fine here.
I uploaded several photos (private only) as a test just now ... no problems.

This is using the web interface running in Safari on macOS through my home WiFi network. The Flickr app on iPad and iPhone, running either through the same home WiFi or through cellular, is working fine too.

I have experienced some problems with reading and posting in the discussion groups off and on. I frequently cannot see a posting when I click on it. If I right click using Firefox and select "open in a new tab" the posting is displayed. The other frequent problem is in formatting postings, especially if I want to include a url or an img link. The Flickr editor randomly inserts line breaks and spaces.
As an admin for the New Mexico Film Photographers group I find it irritating that the form for sending out invitations to join the group produces a very confusing email with links that take people to a Yahoo page that new users find confusing.
