The 7Artisans 25 is strictly manual focus, but has a nice focus ring, about 2/3 turn from infinity to around 8" minimum focus distance. The stepless aperture ring is near the lens mount, while the knurled focus ring is up front. A bit longer than the 20mm pancake lens but thinner due to lack of AF mechanism in the lens. Kind of feels Leica-ish in form factor, if that's a thing.
 
This trend was for years aready for DSLRs. I see plenty of those fake L red ring lenses on DSLRs now. I'm not into it on DSLRs. But if I could shot FSU on digital Leica, here is nothing wrong with MiC lens. It is still made by commies state, BTW.

I'm using the slowest of the bunch, the Iberit 35mm f2.4, on my Fuji X-Pro1. I like the lens although I haven't 'stressed' it at all (i.e.: using it in difficult lighting conditions). Its build quality seems quite high. Aperture and focusing rings feel properly damped. The colors the lens produces is in the range of what I'd call neutral, which is what I prefer. The lens is not overly sharp, like the modern Zeiss lenses. Again, it has a kind of middle-ground feel to it. All of this is to say its a lens I like leaving on the X-Pro1 and using for spur-of-the-moment photography around the family and the neighborhood.

It sounds like an interesting lens. My experience is that lenses of moderate focal length (like 35mm) and moderate aperture (like f2.4) tend to be very good in performers given that they do not stretch lens design theory very much at all. As a result I have considerable respect for them. So I would be interested in seeing some image samples from it if you can put some up.

I also saw another somewhat similar moderate lens today that looked quite tempting as a walk about lens- it was a Zonghyi Mitakon 24mm f1.7 which looks quite interesting in among all the 0.95 etc super lenses coming onto the market.
 
Wow, you've been busy Peter! Thanks for compiling this. I am especially interested in the $150 1.1 lens, mostly out of curiosity and because I'm a cheapskate. I ckd Amazon and unfortunately it's out of stock and they don't know when they will have more according to their site. I wonder how many of these, if any, are going to cover full frame 35mm for us film shooters? I'm pretty apolitical on this sort of thing, and don't care where stuff comes from (except I absolutely do boycott a certain country in the Middle East, and will continue to do so until there is a "regime change" there). Anyone who lives in the US here and owns a car/scooter/truck/ motorcycle, etc probably has a license plate on it that was almost certainly made by US prisoners, and that's only one example of many. Not that I approve of any of this, but it's everywhere.

Someone posted about new films in the pipeline as well, although they seem to be sorta re-branded films that have been tweaked a little. Bit of a photographic resurgence I'd say.
 
I have just noticed yet another new lens line from a camera maker not previously heard of (at least by me). Irix is making a small but growing range of moderately fast full frame, ultra wide lenses and is presently marketing 11mm and 15 mm lenses for Canon, Nikon and Pentax, with more expected for Sony to come. Build quality and image quality look excellent.

The interesting thing is they apparently make these in plastic barrel or metal barrel versions (with a price difference of course) presumably for amateur and pro use. Otherwise the lenses have the same optics. Bit of a different approach to that taken by Nikon and Canon who typically have wholly different lenses for each market segment.

Its hard to assess with his usual ultra-super-high contrast and high saturation images but the IQ looks excellent so far as I can tell and I like what I see.

And yet another from a company I have not heard of but sounds as if it may have been around for a while in a more specialized capacity. Kino****a Kogaku Kenkujkyo "http://www.kino****a-optical.com/new.html has announced another 55m f1.2 lens - the KISTAR 55mm F1.2.

There has been a lot of that f1.2 stuff going round lately.

I was just going back over the earlier postings about the Handevision Iberit lenses and stumbled on the following links. Their lenses for leica M look interesting. They look to have a quality build though I still have not read much about them.

Comment on bokeh is on the mark. Many iphone-only photographers haven't seen it and think it's a conscious decision when in fact sometimes you just didn't have time to adjust shutter speed AND ISO so took the quickee and whacked the aperture. (Yes, I'm a manual shooter... and a filmy, too).

"Really? Hmmm. I thought I blew the shot."

Now-a-days, I shoot more in the F8 range anyway. MF's just don't do wide apertures in many cases and typically I've been looking for lots of DOF. Sadly, been having so much fun with MF I have to make a conscious effort to shoot my Leica these days. Good thing is that it changes your view of the amount of $'s you're willing to spend for a good lens. For one, you need less of them, and for two, they 90mm seems the top. As a Zeiss fanboy, Leica prices never made sense except for the waaaaay oldies. VERY GLAD to see new Leica M mount lenses coming out.

Big question in my mind is whether there is really a design limitation in these lenses which would restrict their use from film Leica M's? Don't see much written on this... 'cause mostly I think we go the other way 'round and put film era lenses on digicameras.

Yes I have been suffering from GAS too. The Iberit lenses look especially nice for Leica camera and at the other end of the spectrum I like the exotic Irix lenses.

I have also been a little tempted by some of the low end prices being asked for some new lenses - for example a new lens by 7Artisans - a 55mm f1.4 which they are selling for only a little over $100 US and around $150 Australian but can find nothing yet about it on the internet yet. It looks reasonable for its price point but until I see a block diagram and hear some reviews I am still reluctant to take the plunge even at this price. I do not really need one but can't refuse a bargain lens - I love trying them out and using them.

The other cheapie I like the idea of at least is the Yongnuo $100mm f2 AF. A copy of the Canon version they make it for Canon and Nikon (I have Nikon) and its optics which are based on the Canon gets good reviews. But the lens itself looks a little cheaply made to my eye - or maybe its just that its style is that of a slightly older AF lens. I can live with that if it makes good images though and does not come apart in my hands.

The CFO - yes I like this description. A friend of mine used to refer to his CFO as "The War Department" when it came to things like this.)

I'm not at all impressed by the Handevision Iberix lenses. Not fast, build finish does not seem great, from the examples I've seen poor lens flare, and just no character in the images. At that price level I'd buy a new or used Voigtlander or Zeiss lens.
 
Zenitar 50mm f/0.95, 50mm f/1.2, & 85mm f/1.2

I discovered these posts today which I think I missed in my list of new lenses below. The news is a year or so old but when I searched on ebay could not find any mention of them being on sale so maybe these were puff pieces for vapor ware. Never the less the lenses look kind of old school Ruski cool and the images made with them look nice.

Yes it would be Raid. The bokeh shown in the photos look pretty smooth to me - maybe not $10,000 smooth but certainly $1,000 smooth. And the colors and sharpness are certainly up to standard given they appear o have been shot with open aperture or very near open. The middle image in particular has very narrow DOF.
