I purchased my FM2N new toward the end of 1983. Several months later, I dropped it. It hit the ground landing on its hotshoe. Other than a slight ding, the meter stopped working properly. I removed the batteries and continued using it for many years with no batteries. Every now and then I would insert batteries to see if the meter miraculously fixed itself, but it never did.

I'm guessing some electric contact came loose or is making contact with some other part in the prism area.

The hotshoe works well. When you insert batteries in the camera, the meter reads either all positive or all negative; no "in-between" readings. Since the meter hasn't been used at all since mid 1984, I'm hoping the metering cells are still good.

Has anyone attempted to repair their FM2N? Is this maybe something I can do following some YouTube video, or should this be something performed by a professional camera repair technician?

Worst case scenario, does anyone know of any good, reputable, responsible camera repair technicians in the U.S.?

p.s. After a but of research, I'm guessing one (or both) of the variable resisters which control the metering were possibly damaged during the fall. If that's the case, I'm guessing this might be a mire detailed repair since it might involve calibrating the meter.
