Foam thickness for light seals?

Light seals gurus out there,

I've bought an Olympus 35RC a few weeks ago, and could not resist passing a couple of rolls through it, even though the light seals were in need of replacement. In this short period, the seals have finally gone to seal heaven (or seal hell, I'm not sure they deserve heaven), and I am in need of some advice.

Have found some possible sources (micro-tools, cameraseals), but the question is...what thickness do I need?? The deteriorated condition of the current ones do not offer much of a clue.

Thanks for the help,

Rgds, Marcelo

the original ones I see on cameras are about 2 mm thick only. I used quite thinner black felt adhesive on one side, on canonet28 and yashica GSN, with success.

I was just lazy and impatient to order some proper foam, that';s why.

I bought a self-sticking foam sheet from our local arts & crafts store. It's two millimeters thick, black, sticky on one side. I cut a small strip to replace the seal on a camera door hinge and it fit snuggly, not too tight. With use it will be just about right. Info:

I think it was under $2.00 USD.
