Focus fecked

Hey there, anyone know how to fix the focus on TLR's...my lubitel has given up the ghost where focussing is concerned and I want to fix it myself (as a little project) as I'm going to pick up a new TLR this week. So any hints and tips are welcome.

Do you mean the focus does not move, or does the viefinder image not agree with the film image focus wise?
On rollei, and probably everything else, the focus of the taking lens at infinity is set via collimator (or groundglass and loupe) at the film rails, with the focus set at infinity obviously, then the viewfinder screen is shimmed or the lens is moved in and out in the carrier to match.

Once the focusing on my Rolleiflex was badly off. The mirror had shifted inside the camera,and what I was focusing on what the wrong distance.

Hi Raid that's the problem I have, unfortunately through the viewfinder you can't see what's in focus (as it's scale focus I guess). So the problem is how do I fix it so that it focuses on infinity, etc.

I sent my camera to Mark Hama for a complete check and repair. A local repairman may be able to do the fix for you.

I was checking some negs I just developed yesterday and the focus was off...at first look it appeared somewhat OK but I KNOW on some shots what I was FOCUSING on and it was not in focus...
I pulled the top off my 124G and checked the mirror and then looked at the Focusing Glass and Bright Screen...it appears that they were switched in their position. I had found a website that showed exactly the info I needed. I switched them and rechecked focusing distance...BINGO!!!
Looking forward to shooting again with beautiful beast...

The difference of have the screens switched at a close distance came out to this...Object placed 6' from camera showed it at about 4.5' !!! After switching I got the right results...6' at 6'...

I have had this camera for 6-7 years and have shot many rolls with it...I think I caused the problem a few years ago when I bought what should have a Beattie screen but turned out to be the same factory screen from another 124...Got it off Eb*y...returned it to the seller with no problems.

I should see a big difference now in sharpness, although I must say that many shots lately still looked good..I guess it showed more on closer shots and I was blaming me for not focusing correctly.

If yous is same as mine you slacken off the four screws in side the film chamber that locate the lens, i.e. to slacken off the lens. Then set the focusing lens fo infinity and set the taking lens sharp at infinity on 3m tape using a loupe and mate the focusing and taking lens. You have a one tooth either way option.

Not played with the focus threads I'll have a look.
