my first ever post at RFF.....is a sad one.
Coming home after being out shoting, I sadly realized that the focus lever on my summicron 35/2.0 was GONE.
I looked everywhere, even went back outside, backtracking, but without luck.
It seems to be fitted from the inside, as the screws are still inside the lens.
what to do? its pretty useless, at least almost impossible to focus without the focus lever/tab...
what to do? or more accuratly where to send it for repairs?
any idea of cost/time etc?
im also interested in knowing if this has happend to anyone else?

I don't think there's anyone in Norway who can fix that but check with Interfoto if they know of anyone. If not, you have to send the lens somewhere to have it fixed; there are plenty of repair shops in Europe and the US.
(Your biggest problem will probably be to avoid be hassled by the Norwegian Customs when the package returns. There are forms to fill out to make it in a legal way but it's one real PITA. Ask ErikFive, I think he tried it once...)

Interfoto told me to send it to them and they would then send it to solms.
im aware of the norwegian customs issue
im leaning towards sending it to Sherry Krauter in NYC.
-just afraid it will get lost in the mail.....

Beware of using UPS internationally because they charge a Custom's brokerage fee that is a rip-off. IMO

A pair of $100 Converse running shoes that we bought on-line for our daughter cost us an additional $70 in UPS fees. This is from the US to Canada. This has been my experience with UPS. Just say'n.

Isn't it coffee time ?
Might be Bergersen in Oslo can help you with the tab, if you have a bit time to wait.
As fare as I know he is on vacation at least to August, might be worth asking if you can wait. Else there might be an option to buy the part online and get Nye Exposervice to install it, at leas they do lots of strange projects, give them a call . .

Isn't this sort of situation covered by your camera insurance ?

yeah I know what you mean, but its more like wear and tear - which I doubt they´ll be willing to cover.

Alternatively you can contact Will van Manen at Kamera-service.info .
He's located in the Netherlands, so there should be no tax issues.
I have had cameras and lenses CLAd by him and his work is very good.

Oh yes, there will be issues. Norway is not a member of the EU...Alternatively you can contact Will van Manen at Kamera-service.info .
