- Is focus trap a feature of the lens or the camera? I am sorry if the question is too basic.-
- Is there a list of DSLRs I can use "focus trap" with? Canon, Nikon, Sony, Leica, Mamiya, Hasselblad, etc...?
- Can I use with any lens on cameras which capable of the focus trap feature?
I have a few old manual lenses and it would be great to focus on moving subjects...
Thanks a lot!

The first I am aware of was the MF-23 data back to the Nikon F4 - IIRC the F5/F6 incorporated it in the body itself, and that may have continued with the D series.

Any camera that has the ability to set a second button for focus function. Use this button to pre set the focus point with the camera in single servo af to the distance you want and release the button. The shutter button should be set to release priority and held down fully after the focus point is set. When your subject moves to the pre focused spot the camera will fire the shutter.

Improving daily--I think.
Most of the newer Pentax DSLRs will focus trap. Go to the Pentax forum at DPReview and ask the question. There are a number of people there who use it with good results...

Any body with an AF-L function will enable focus trap.

just set the lens at 20ft or 6m and then trip the shutter when the subject almost fills the height of the frame, assuming it's people you are photographing ... works down to f5.6'ish

I think the F4 can actually analyse the speed of the moving target and take in account it's own reaction time.

Leaf AFi / AFi-II have this focus trap feature too.

it's still a function provided by an accessory back for the F5 as well.

You did not need a special back with the Yashica 230AF in 1988.

Do you think Mamiyas can do it as well?
