Hi

Hello everyone! I'm new here..

I need a piece of advice about the zeiss ikon.

Today I was trying a second hand ZM, but had a couple of problems that stopped me to buy it. When I was trying to focus it was difficult to see the square in which i have to match the images. Maybe the shop was in dim light (still a very well lighted shop), but only when i pointed to some contrasty subject i was able to clearly see the double image to match it. Which is your experience about indoors and low light focusing? I have never shot with rangefinders before, so I don't know if that's normal..

The second one is that when i looked through the viefinder i had my eyelash touching the glass! they are not that long! Was the eye too much close to the viefinder?

I recently sold my digital camera, a nikon d200, because I was tired of procesing raw files, so now im looking forward the nice film feeling again..

Thanks!

The Ikon has a great viewfinder and rangefinder but it is a little eye position sensitive ... familiarity with the camera will overcome the problem. Keep in mind also that a rangefinder does rely on contrast and learning to focus it quickly and accurately may not come naturally at first. Once you're tuned into the system though it's far superior in low light to most SLR's or DSLR's. 🙂

One thing I learned is to always keep the tab on infinity. This way you only go one way and not back and forth with the focus. It is much easier.

Thanks for the input!

I will give it another try later this week. Now thinking about a 35mm lens for the kit, it may be the f2 biogon or the 1.4 from voigtlander, (the price will cross a bit my budget with those, but i read wonders about them..)

Anyone with the eyeslash "problem"? 🙂

I really miss shooting film!

Thanks again
