sorry.. it's a dumb question but i have no experience yet w/ a Leica: if i mount a 28mm on an M3, what line will appear on the finder? the 50? will the rangefinder keep giving me focus information despite the fact lens is not in the M3 viewfinder?

Not a dumb question: The 50 mm frame lines will not go away - no matter which lens is mounted to your M3. With a 28mm mounted - I would expect the 90mm frame lines to appear in the viewfinder.

And with a 90 mm lens mounted, the M3 will display 28 mm viewlines, right?

Like Andrew said. 50mm framelines stays, 90mm framelines will show up, too.
