Hi all,

Just bought a few rolls of Fomapan 100 in 35mm and 120. The massive development chart gives times for HC-110 only for solution H. I tend to use E as one shot developer (mixed from syrup). Yes, I can work out the times for E but I have learned to take the values with a grain of salt, especially as I develop for scanning.

Does anyone have experience with the film and HC-110? I also have Diafine.

Cheers,

Ronald

I usually use HC 110h for most of my films- mainly Tri X 120. For the Foma 100 (35mm) I tried perceptol 1+3. Awesome! That combo scans amazingly well. Looks better than my medium format stuff!

I develop it in Rodinal 1:100 Stand Developing. Easy as pie.

Mix up 1:100 Rodinal, approx. 20 degrees Celcius is close enough.

Pre-soak film in water for 3 mins. Add solution, 20 easy turns in a minute. Three slams to get rid of bubbles. Leave untouched for 59 minutes. Rinse, fix, rinse, etc.

I've done Fomapan 200 like this as well. Spectacular results. 200 should be rated 160, 100 should be rated 80 using this.

Enjoy, great film! Fotohuis ROVO has lots of it!

Thanks guys, I bought it from Robert Vonk, no surprise there. But I do not want to add yet another developer to my arsenal. I use more film than ever before, but not THAT much 😉

Ah well, I'll give it a go at 7 min in HC-110 'E'. It's cheap anyway.

Ronald,

Robert also sells the Rollei test kits, nice little wooden box, with Rollei Classic 100 and 400, Rodinal 125cc and Age-fix. Might be just enough to test drive with for your Fomapan. A single litre of Rodinal will last you approx 180 films with this dilution!

There's no room for a dark room in my house. I load film in the tank in the cellar and develop in the kitchen. I soupe the film before dinner, and by the time the dishes are done, the film is done too. Just make sure you keep the fixer away from your pots and pans😛.

Like said, easy as pie.

Do try it in Diafine, I like it. Although I shoot it at EI100 for cloudy and EI200 for sunny rather than the standard 200 that the MDC suggests.

I've just remembered I have 3x100ft rolls in the freezer, might dust off the bulk loader tomorrow, the film has a nice old-school look to it.

Fomapan 100 responds well to Kodak T Max!!

Standard dilution 5.5 mins @ 20° C

Its one of my favourite films. Ive used it since I bought a 20film pack
in Foto Skoda in Prague in 1996

I've used Fomapan 100 shot at 100 and developed in Diafine (standard 3+3) with good results. However, keep in mind I was using sunny 16.

I love it in Diafine. I tend to shoot it at EI200 and like the results myself. If it's gloomy, I might shoot at 125 or 160, but usually I don't worry too much. Very nice film and I especially like the Arista.edu Ultra relabel of it - cheap!

Fomapan in Diafine and Rodinal are both doing very well. You can follow the instructions on our website: http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl
Diafine: http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/Diafine-data.pdf
Rodinal: http://www.fotohuisrovo.nl/documentatie/Ontwikkeltijden.pdf

I can't comment on HC-110, I never tried it myself.

Valuable information and examples you can also find in our gallery:

This is tested input and input from customers who want to deal their experiences with others.

Best regards,

Robert

I got so much into Foma film in the first place

Good to hear you are a Foma addict now.

I like the Fomapan 200 very much. Not about the speed which is iso 125-160 in most developers but the "look' is very special. I am often use it in para-amino phenol (Rodinal 1+50 9:00 minutes). If I want to suppress the grain completely I am developing in W665 (Windisch) an ultra fine grain developer based on Ortho Phenylene Diamine, iso 80-100 9:45 minutes. No squeegee on these softer emulsions.

Here my favorit shot in Prague on Fomapan Creative 200, M7 + Elmarit 2,8/28mm + Yellow filter.

I agree that Fomapan 200 is the best emulsion from Foma, I've tried and found Foma 400 nothing special, but Foma 100 has a certain old-fashioned something.

I've found my "sweet spot" with Fomapan 100 in Tetenal Ultrafin liquid for 7 mins @ 20 degrees. If it wasn't for the ocasional need of higher speed film, I would never use anything else.

And to stay in the same wavelenght:

Fomapan classic 100 is very close to APX100 from Agfa. It's a very predictable film. Like APX it fits also very good in Rodinal.

I agree in flexibility the Fomapan creative 200 is their best emulsion. I think it has to do with the mixture of cubical halogenides and hexagonal halogenides in the emulsion.

Here another example of Prague on Fomapan Creative 200. They changed the T200 name under pressure of Kodak a few years ago. To familiar with Tmax.

I've shot some of the Arista.EDU Ultra 100 in 120 from Freestyle that seems widely agreed to be rebranded Foma. Developed in D76 using Freestyle's recommended time and I was quite happy with the results.
