Fomapan 120 film

I love Fomapan 100 for the lovely tones, both Hc-110 and Rodinal works nicely with it.

The 200......well, don't rate it at 200 =)

And the 400 should be rated at 200. ^^

A little lower resolution and larger grain than the competition, but it has a very old-school look to it. (more blue sens then red)
There has been quality issues in the past with the 100 in 120, but it seems that they've finally otten tings under control now.

I am planning to order another batch of fomapan 100, maybe also the 400 (in my view, the 200 is too close to speed with the 100 but has larger grain so...).

The following shots are all made in 120, the first with a Rolleiflex 2.8F - with a Rollei Yellow-filter - and the last two with a Hasselblad 503CW, I suppose it doesn't really matter what camera, but it's good to inform about the format used, as 35mm looks different than 120 in general.

yep, I bought quite a bit from those bad batches in the past and this was quite disappointing, otherwise it is very lovely film...

thank you for all the replies and images posted, I really am greatful for your time, effort and knowledge. I have bought a sample pack three rolls, 100, 200 and 400. At present I will use a lab and not develop the rolls myself, baring this in mind what should I rate each roll at, should I rate the 200 as 100 and the 400 at 200 etc

Did they also improve the quality control issues of the Arista EDU films? I believe these were similar to Foma films

I love the Foma films. I have used only the 100 and 400 in 120 and 35mm. I will try some 200 soon.

I have my happiest reults at box speed and use HC-110 (dil.H) and D-76.

I absolutely HATED it in Ilfosol-3! (in fact I hated anything I developed in Ilfosol-3)

I love Fomapan (Arista edu) 100 in 4x5 sheets. I shoot it at box speed for D76 or at iso80 for Rodinal. I have not tried 200 or 400.

When I heard that Artista was being discontinued, I ordered 150 rolls of the 120mm (50 in 100iso, 50 in 200 and 50 in 400). Each roll was $2.75 (now increased by 50 cents).

I love these films and have yet to see any quality issues with them. They are in actuality, Foma films just with a cheaper brand name.

It's funny, I originally bought then because they were so cheap but the quality is superb so I feel pretty good about it! Might even get another big batch!

I shoot a lot of Arista EDU 400 in 120 and 135. It is a great film and QC seems to be great.

I shoot at EI200 outdoors and at box speed indoors, unless I am using flash where I usually rate it at EI125. Like most films it will do pretty much what you want when you get used to it. Underdevelop by 15 to 20% it will give you a very soft, low contrast look that is quite nice. If you want additional contrast just develop at the recommended times or even a bit more.

I almost always develop in D76 1+1 but occasionally use Rodinal, especially if I want additional contrast. HC110 works well but I have only used it a couple of times. D76 with this film gives very predictable results just by adjusting times. Since I am usually developing with continuous rotation the agitation is very regular.

The price is spectacular (Arista EDU.) It is certainly worth spending some time with this film and trying it in various ways, you may find it is very worthwhile.
