I'm hoping I can find one in less collectible condition from a fellow user. Thanks, though!

My guess is it will be a long search unless you are willing to get FOOKHed at a high price! $90 seems to be the going price, OMG!
In the mean time, evilbay a vented lens hood. Should work well, but may not look as retro. These guys should do a non-black outside lens hood for folks like you.
You might check Pacific Rim or Woodmeyer (spelling, Rich is on Long Island somewhere) but I doubt it will be below $85.

Watch that step!
Hmmm.....it might take some luck to find one under $75 but, that`s what makes the search so much more fun
Hoods are stupid money now.......and it`s sad to open up an issue of Leica Photography from like 1953 and see what the FOOKH went for new, I think something like $4

And I let a FOOKH go for nothing along with a Summaron some years ago...

There is the alternative of a Tiffen #560 Series 5 adapter ring and hood to match. Not as elegant but likely cheaper and still workable.

I can sit tight until I find a reasonable FOOKH - the lens has a fairly deep-set front element, and I just use my hand as a shade when needed.

Might have a long wait: everyone seems to know the outrageous price the thing commands.

For Summaron I use 12538. (Mind you this is for a M 2.8 Summaron)
Not sure if this anything like the same fitting as a 3.5 version.
Later hoods seem a much cheaper option than things like FOOKH, IROOA, SOOMP and dare I even mention XOONS?

(who would really like to have the original hoods but at those prices will use anything from toilet paper tubes upward!)

I have two Summarons now (as opposed to zero a few weeks ago, don't tell SWMBO): a LTM 3.5 that uses the A36 clamp-on attachments and a M 3.5 that is 39mm screw-on. I've never tried to hood an A36 before! It seem similar to my Retina Ia which used an aftermarket push-on hood.

for what it's worth the 12538 also seems to fit the collapsible Summicron and the current Elmar (though frankly that lens hardly needs a hood). Unfortunately it will not reverse on the 2.8 Summaron because of the focussing tab.
Anyway, the game is to acquire as many third party hoods as possible at every opportunity (without measuring). Then spend the long winter nights seeing what fits what!!!
