As some of you liked my homebrew experiments with various strange lens combinations and hacks, here's a short presentation of what I've been up to lately....
http://www.hrtranslations.com/photo/funky2/
It's the 4x5 Speed Graphic with focal plane shutter, which enables me to put just about anything on the front standard (using a cardboard "lensboard", mind you...) and try to take a photo of whatever happens to be around....
Photos are mediocre, I couldn't make the kids stand still, and there's a load of other things which could have been better, but still....
I really like the look of those photos. Some of you probably know that I have several Leicas (suffice to say that I have more than I need 🙂) with several good lenses, but this funky old Speed Graphic is really something.... I guess it fits my "hacker" profile. You know, gimme a hammer, and I'm immediately on the lookout of what to use it on 😛
Besides, there are not many of my Leica photos that can stand even close to the detail and the "creaminess" of those few 4x5 negs I shot so far....
Well, not to start a holy war or anything, I just wanted to share a few things that bring a smile on my face 🙂
BTW, you can expect to see some photos taken with an absolute monster soon - Bill Mattock's Aero Ektar just arrived 😀
