For you non digital types: what would you do if film went dead?

Obviously you would migrate 100% to digital or go live in a cave. So what digital rig would you go for? I probably would stay with the Sony NEX line just to continue using my lenses, but an R-D1 would probably still give me "the feeling" or would you mortgage your house again for an M9?:angel:

FF Rfs obviously... By then they'll be so cheap and I'll be so dead... My cameras? My sons will use them and will be here on RFF saying film will never die...

Seriously, FF Rfs if film really disappears, and enjoy just the same.

I have my foot firmly in both camps. I'm also pretty sure that I'll be done with shooting film long before it actually becomes extinct.

I'd prefer a mirrorless system from Nikon but in case someone else offers a better alternative, I'll go for it.

As much as film is on the decline, I truly doubt it will ever really die. Even if all the major players got out of the film business, there's enough film shooters around the world to support whoever ends up being the last one standing. My money would be on Foma or one of the other smaller film producers, they'd have a monopoly and a very dedicated user base if they where the last film factory.

That being said, if film WERE to die, I'd probably pick up a NEX to tide me over till I could afford a M8/M9/RD1

I would shoot mind pictures with my empty camera all day long and after I die, nobody would know what an accomplished photographer I really was.

For me it's all about imagination and somehow I feel digital is too precise, for lack of a better word.

For LF, I would turn to wet plate.

I saved and sold a bunch of my film gear to finance a 5DMKII last year in order to "learn" digital. I sort've figured I should be prepared in case "film armageddon" came to pass.

I tried to use and subsequently passed on the m4/3 and crop sensor options because I am one of those stubborn people who don't like the focal lengths to crop. Also I love 50mm and can't bear the thought of it being a 75mm.

Anyway, Im ready. The thought of losing slide film breaks my heart but Im hoping that at minimum B&W will survive.

With my current photography budget, I'd probably just get a Canon 5d Mk I. I know it's not the most advanced camera ever in this market, but I don't exactly have the most "advanced" photography budget in the world. And I refuse to give up full frame.

I would continue shooting street and documentary photography using tools like my Lumix G1 micro-4/3 camera; and would also pursue wet plate collodion tintype photography.

Continue to fondle my M's as if film was still around. I have so much film and Rodinal stashed I doubt I will out live it.

If he end is in sight I'll buy a big freezer and fill it with film. If it runs out in my life time, I'll just continue to shoot digital as normal people do 😀

I mainly shoot film for the fun of it, that old fashined B/W look and the joy of using intuitive old cameras. I definitely shoot more film than digital. There is basically no room in my freezer anymore for food, as it is stocked with expired film.

I'm not sure I really see the point of the question. Please go out and make some pictures...either on silicon *or* silver.

I'll start worrying about it when B&W film is only available online directly from the factory or from a dozen or less online retailers and its only available in box's of 50+ rolls or in 100Ft bulk rolls.
