Wow ! You teach at Hogwarts ?
I've used enough borrowed digi-cams to be enticed by the instant-review feature; but it also seems to take something away... from the experience.
I do not have a digital yet, but have been getting CD's with my 35mm prints for a couple of years now.
Last Sunday, I was involved in a community chorus concert, and after warm-ups, went outside for some fresh air. It was a beautiful sunny, clear, crisp day, and leaves were still on the red maples around the French-Gothic church where the concert was, and the late afternoon sun was just right... so I went back to the car, and grabbed my III-f, with it's cruddy, flare-ey S-cron, and snapped about six pics of the church building.
I took the film to the local Ritz camera agency (first time there), inside a local dept store, and when I picked up the prints (4 x 6 ), I was fairly stunned by the brilliance of the colors, no flare (sun behind me 😉 ), general quality of the image... ( okay, there were still lots of flaws caused by floccus inside the lens ).
( Kodacolor 400, GE PR1 meter)
It gave me a small taste of what the Leica is capable of... 😀 ....
I'm also a lot happier with Ritz's processing, than I have been with my usual lab.
I will try posting a few of those images later on...
I worry about the eventual demise of film photography... I suppose 35mm will be the last film format to go away... but I hope I go before film does...( and not any time soon !)
Glad you're enjoying your Barnack !
