Fountain pen, someone?

Fountain pens! I shoulda known so many here would use them.

I have an old sterling Parker, a Pelikan, a Waterman, and several Mont Blancs: 144, 146, & 149. My favorite is the Waterman.

This thread is exceedingly dangerous!

So far, I've picked up that Namiki ink (though I really like Noodler's X-feather - resists feathering on most papers), and the following:
A Parker Duofold from the early 1920s (large, red rubber with cap band x1),
Wahl Gold filled lever-fill pen also 20s vintage with flex nib,
Waterman gold overlay 0552 with #2 flex nib.
All of these are with John Mottishaw (fix nib on the Duofold), or the Southern Scribe (Rick Horne) to repair.

Sheaffer Triumph Crest plunger filler (renovated with working filler),
Parker 50 Falcon in stainless steel, made in Argentina (NOS)
Parker 180 with XF/M nib (NOS).

I love these Parkers from the 1980s - the slim pen era. They are small, really well built and compact in your pocket. People have said that the 180s don't write well. They write great, but mine needed to have the overfeed heat set on the nib first. Before that, the fine point wouldn't write at all. Now it writes really wet!

Final piece of GAS - lusting after a de la Rue Onoto plunger filler. I think this is a truly cool filling mechanism!

I could have bought a Leica M for the cost of these pens. But, they are so addictive.

The pen is a series 1 Rotring 600 with gold nib and gold cap top-plate - usually filled with J. Herbin Perle Noir. A real workhorse. I´m also active at FPN, by the way.

Writing with my Mont Blanc fountain pen is akin to cocking the shutter on my Leica M. Smooth.

Interesting to see a high correlation between RFF members and fountain pen use on this poll thus far.

I also have one but ink flow is sometimes herratic. Piston pens attracts me more and more. I may buy a Pelikan M400 or a Lamy 2000 one day or even a TWSBI.

Since I last posted in this thread, I bought some more pens and some ink. I am waiting on a Noodler's pen--their demonstrator piston fill pen--and two Chinese pens; one glass pen and a Haolila 0305. And I am going to try some of Noodler's ink as well.

The Noodler's pen writes well but is a bit small for me. It is what I am carrying for now. I am glad I didn't spend too much money on the glass pen I bought: it sure looks good but it writes badly. I wasn't too surprised, really. The Haolila pen is pretty decent but has a much broader nib than I prefer.

And I did get and am using some Noodler's ink; Squeateague. A good dark green/black color.

And I just bought another demonstrator pen--I'm finding that I really like the clear pens!--a TWSBI 530.

These dern things are too much fun!

rosewill rk-9000 : replaced my creative eluminix, which I could not find for sale. solid keyboard, cherry switches, reasonable price tag

the parker is the only one Im really happy with, Ill probably sell the Lamy and have the montblanc sent out. the reforms cost 5 bucks each so I dont really care. current inks (the one in each pen): j. herbin poussiere de lune (best ink ever IMO), diamine monaco red, waterman florida blue, waterman florida blue

I will not be buying clairefontaine again. probably going to try rhodia.

Hi, new here but I thought I'd chime in, I'm a heavy FP user as well. Lamy 2k, Pilot Myu, Pilot Murex are faves. I love those 60s-70s Japanese pens!

I used to have one when I was really young, then I guess it broke or got lost and I never really got back to it. Saw this thread pop up a couple of times and thought "hey, perhaps I should get one again". Not wanting to spend too big bucks I got a Rosetta Magellan on eBay. I like it very much and always use it when writing in my darkroom journal 🙂

I use the Kodak Brownie of fountain pens: Kaweco Sport Classic. The German maker dates back to 1883.
