It's heavy, it's absurdly expensive, it's slow-handling, the choice of lenses is miserably small, and it's great fun: an M9 with a Visoflex III reflex housing.
The Visoflex III is a mirror housing which converts an M-series Leica to an SLR. You bayonet it onto the front of the camera with a choice of viewfinder (vertical 'chimney' type or pentaprism); adjust the release arm so that the mirror goes up before the shutter fires; and there is your (very thick, rather heavy) SLR camera body.

The only way one is going to use a Leica M body for long lenses it with
a Visoflex. The choice of lenses and accessories is huge…. including
Novoflex and many others. It is not cumbersome or slow to use… if you
know how to use it…. no slower than any other manual focus rig.
Plus, it is a hell-uv-alot of fun, to tell you the truth. It, can be removed
in ten seconds to revert the M body for use as a standard rangefinder.

Well, after 30 years or so of using them, with a range of lenses from 65mm to 400mm, including Novoflex and various adapted lenses, I think I probably do know how to use them, and (ignoring everything else) pre-set lenses are inevitably slower to use than auto-diaphragm. Then there's the very long shutter release travel...

Maybe my comment was too broad, I can’t disagree with you regarding
auto-diaphram lenses. I was thinking of comparisons to Leica lenses
on the M without the visoflex.
But, concerning speed of actual exposure…. a Visoflex need not have
a long delay time if you preset the exposure and are set to manual…
then one can take a photo instantly…. especially with the Viso III set
to snap exposure: yellow dot.
I also rework the mirror linkage in Viso II and IIa to raise the release
arm for use on the M-9 and this makes the needed delay very short and
in use, I find the arm height on the Viso II & IIa easier to use because
it is so much lower than the Viso III. Cheers.
