hi there,

since 2 weeks i am the proud owner of a leica m6. i bought it second hand and it seems to be in perfect working condition, except for the framelines.
When i mount 35mm or 50mm lens (or play with the lever)its perfect, but when mounting a 90mm (or move lever) there is still some part of the 50mm lines visible plus a bit of the corners of the 75mm lines, combined with very thin 90mm lines, this makes one cluttered view!

Is this a big issue, and would it be expensive to fix?

Thanks

Jasper

It's probably the lens mount on the back of the 90mm that isn't perfect. Has your 90mm been modified? I know that when I was filling the mount on the back of my 40 Rokkor M to bring up the 35 lines instead of the 50 lines I had to fill little bit by little bit to get the lines to match up perfectly. Not sure if it's the same problem with yours but maybe.

Give Will van Manen in Zoetermeer a call, he can fix this for you. It should not be very expensive. His website is kamera-service.info .

I was reading up on his site, (kamera-service.info) and think about sending it in for a complete CLA and have the M6 rangefinder Flare issue fixed as they describe.. Any thoughts on how long i would have to miss my cam and what the cost should be?

Probably only a couple of days as you are in Holland. I sent my M6 to him from the UK for the same work and had it back after a week. He does a very good job. Give him a call, he's a very friendly and helpful guy

His turn around time typically is about a week or so. You can bring and pick up your camera if you want.
I think a full CLA for a M6 is about 225 euro, but not sure how much the flare repair is extra.
And he is indeed a very friendly guy, and Cathy a very friendly girl!

I have a similar problem with M6, when changing from a 28mm to 50mm sometimes the frame lines stay on the 28mm lines. Moving the lever has no effect, If I remount the lens, sometimes it goes to the correct frame line. This problem is intermittent, can anyone tell me what's going on here or where to send it in the US for repair- much thanks-

The mechanics of the frame selecter lever and the framelines itself are a bit sensitive. If you find a drawing of the M camera you can see how everything is linked together.
A good repairer can fix it.
I'm afraid I have no experience with US repair people, but the names that always pop up here are DAG, Sherry Krauter and others.
