Yesterday received and mounted grip I bought from R. Franiec. This small piece of metal costs good part of camera itself but what a remedy to straight boxy metallic body with funny dots instead of front grip!
Grip arrived with a leaflet for dummies pointing to important aspects of mounting (and use - I mean sentence to not dismiss strap, so true).
Don't want to sound rude but I'm glad I bought original piece from it's creator not plastic knock-off made in China for about half of Franiec's price. I mean, exactly same shape, just sangria not sauvignon. I would consider copycat but for much cheaper.
There are also several varieties of smaller silicone grip panels and grippy strips. Some people may find them more practical, easier to find locally and cheaper. I learned about much cheaper grippy strips after purchase of grip but still no regrets.
I hope in future models Sigma considers shaping front panel accordingly to provide at least some grip (I don't want anything SLR-like on compact camera).

I'm using this on all of the DP Merrills and have been saying all along that it makes a huge difference.
To make application easier, I spread isopropyl alcohol on the sticky surface. which allows the grip to be slid into position quite easily, yet dries very fast allowing the adhesive to do its work.
I love the low key Greek "sigma" insignia in relief on the grip that replaces the manufacturer's brand name.
