Surprised I haven't seen updates here as I thought there were other backers, but the kickstarter for an M3/A7 conversion, fitting the A7 sensor in an M3 has, finally, updated.

Prototype seems to be working. Some nice detailing. No pix posted as yet. If you're a backer, like me, you get access to the files for 3D printing... but then it will get a bit complicated I guess!

I check on this every so often, that is awesome that Oliver (that was his name, right?) was actually working on it.

Quickly scrolling: Did he 3d print the whole body, basically, so as to allow the sensor and electronics to fit?

Total cost of investement in this would be around second hand m240 . I wonder if a7 used is kolari modified. It would be interesting to see if instead of m3 , Espon rd1 could house a7 .

I had a quick look, and so far he's posted maybe 60 pages of tear-down on the A7 and M3. Really clear instructions but nonetheless scary. It is mad but pretty awesome.

Here's a snippet so you can judge for yourself how well he's presented all the work. Very impressive.

Cool, I was thinking about this project just the other day. That's some very clever work! The APS-C back based on the NEX looks more practical to me, but the ingenuity of the A7 modification is amazing.
