I would like to know if the Leica "Frankenfinder" could be used on a Nikon SP.
Leica has recessed rewind knob and flash shoe, while Nikon has them both raised so it could work, but will be close? I don´t mind having to remove the finder for rewinding.

It looks like there is not enough clearance on the top deck of the SP, as it is a close fitting finder.

Making a cold shoe extender could solve the problem, if you don't mind the slight parallax problem that it will create.

that thing will probably hit the rewind crank :eek::eek:

I had to shim my canon meter in order for it to work with my SP/S3

Try something like this:

If you know someone decent with Fusion360 you could easily 3d print something of a precise shoe extender to keep things tight to the deck. I suppose if you could keep it small enough parallax error would be minimum... well in context.

What about the smaller Leica 21-28 zoom finder?

I just used a piece of acrylic. its not difficult to shim something like that if you are fine with drilling.:eek::eek:

else, just use a piece of metal for the shim and use flush-head screws.

Thanks for all the responses.
I found a used Frankenfinder available at a store here in Finland, they even tested it on a Nikon S3/S4 for me, and it fit! (They didn´t have an SP) If it fits an S3, it shouldn´t require much, if at all, shimming for an SP. I will let you know...

Unfortunately the FF didn´t fit the SP. It was very close, perhaps less than a mm thick shim would have been necessary. However, i decided against shimming and returned it.
