frayed quick release

finally happened...i looked down at my strap and noticed the really thin cord that attaches the strap to the camera lug was fraying a bit. that was yesterday and i held on to the camera very carefully as i shot.
last night, pulling the camera out of the domke and the thin cord snapped.
these quick releases scare some folks for just this reason but my straps are years old and this is the first quick release to go awry on me.
so anyway...if you use a quick release on your camera give it a close look before you head out shooting.
 
Yep, you need to check the full strap a couple of times a year. First sign of fraying and I toss it. I use the Op/Tech straps and can buy the connector sections separately. Just buy a few sets and see them as expendables.
