Free Pentax Spotmatic 500

I acquired a friend's Pentax Spotmatic 500, chrome with case, and 50mm lens. My friend passed away a few years ago and his wife gave me the camera to do with as I please. My friend was great guy, full of life, and shared my passion for cycling. I would like to pass this camera, in his memory, to someone who could really use it. Possibly someone who has the passion but can't really afford a decent camera on which to learn. All I ask in return is the cost for shipping.

The camera works, not sure about the meter. The camera actually has all shutter speeds from B-1000. Pentax marketed the SP500 as an inexpensive camera, but there is that "click" after 500 that is actually 1000 shutter speed. It is in fine shape.

That's a great offer. There's several high school and college students who post here, maybe one of them can use it, or knows someone who can.

I've heard that about the Spotmatic 500, that is is really the regular Spotmatic with the 1000 erased from the shutter speed dial....lol I wonder if that was common knowledge back when they were new. If i'd been around back then and looking to buy a new Pentax I'd certainly have saved some $$ by buying the one with the 'cheap' name!
