Just received a copy of "On Photography" by Susan Sontag.
Unfortunately, for some reason (probably related to Yuletide excess), I placed 2 copies in my Amazon basket.

Excellent! While I find Sontag a bit too philosophical, this is a classic work on "theoretical" photography. Another good book in that vein, which I read over winter break, is Barthes Camera Lucida.
