Film really seems to be a 'must have' for a lot of us so I guess we'll climb the price ladder a bit further yet before we take wholely to the dark side! 😛

I was fairly convinced that having what is potentially the two best digital options available (D700 and X100) at my disposal would sway me away from film. Undeniably they're great cameras but in many ways I now find mysef valuing film more so than previously and regarding it as very important (essential?) to my photography now and in the future.

Glad I stocked up on LegacyPro 100 and 400 in 35mm. Should last me a few years at the rate I shoot film. Also stocked up on 120 films, but I'm less worried about those as the RZ67 and Hasselblad will take a digital back. Which should be down in price when/if I go that route in a few years. Time to sell a Leica MP body I think...

Just ordered an extra 2 x 100 feet of Legacy Pro 100 (= ACROS), and an extra 100 feet of TMAX400. Added to my existing freezer stockpiles, I'm good for a while. 😀

I just wish I had a bigger freezer. My wife yells at me every time another roll of Tri-X falls out or she can't find an empty spot for the ice cream.

Maybe some day the cheapest way will be making your own glass plate negatives like the late 1800's again. At least you would not be held hostage to market forces!

that is, if you make your own glass plates from sand when the prices of glass are climbing...

CVS is all out here- but Walgreen's 200 Speed film is $4.24 for a 4-pack, and get 50% of a second one, so 8 rolls for under $7.

I bought 16 rolls. They also have Kodak C41 B&W for $14 for a 3-pack, regular price. I will keep an eye for sales and clearance.

My wife, bless her heart, came home with another 5x4 rolls of CVS 200 yesterday. Price was $2.49/box! They are dated 2013 so they went straight into the freezer.

I now have 33 rolls stockpiled, which will probably last longer than the convenient and cheap C-41 service at CVS will ($2.30/roll for negs only).

It's the cost of doin' business my friends. Be glad we can get the stuff and keep on shooting! I'm already paying $12 for 620 at B&H - but I'm just so darn happy I can get it for my Medalist. Keeping the empty spools from the lab ro I can roll my own if necessary...

Yeah, that's actually not such a bad deal for the 620. Mind you if I could source enough spools I'd undercut them by a buck or two in a heartbeat and still make a fortune 😉

Just logged onto Freestyle.com to purchase some film and noticed that a 36-count roll of T-Max 400 now goes for $5.39. Fuji professional color films, which have been increasing for months, are now off the charts -- 400H @ 7.19 a roll!

Fuji Acros in 120 size has increased from a very reasonable $2.99 a roll to $3.49 (still not terrible, but not a good thing.) Arista.EDU films have also gone up between 15 and 20 percent.

I'm committed to film photography, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to afford it. Just makes me sad.

🙂 Joe as I have said on other pages go for a holiday to vietnam ,organise to purchase your film there, they will have film for years, at the same time see the great sights, eat great food and if you are single see some magnificent women. I have had mine 45 yrs, great lady. You may even pick up some classic cameras.

This are our regular retail prices for long years. Probably because our country doesn't print dollars.
