Freestyle own brands film

Robert,

Unless you can find a really cooperative and consistent lab (most likely won't be cheap), you are asking a bit much 🙂

My one and only professional lab in town won't even tell me what kind of developer they are using daily. That tells me that they will use whatever they can get in their hands. And I can understand that, it's not like they are dealing with lots of B&W film savvy photographers anymore nowadays.

The only way to get negatives that you like, *consistently* is to develop yourself. Or have it developed at a lab, and then compensate for inconsistencies in the darkroom.

Dwayne's Photo seems to be a good choice, decent prices and I have read good opinions about them in other forums.

+1 on the Holga film. For $2.99 a roll of 400 speed 120, it sounds good. I notice the catalog says it's made by a "European manufacturer." Foma, perhaps? The prices for the Holga stuff and Fomapan are quite close.

Have to get some.

Have to get some.

I had heard of all these films but didn't know which films they were. Now, I can look forward to getting a few rolls of each to try out. Thanks guys.

Holga film

I can't find anything on the Freestyle web site about Holga film. They won't send printed catalogues outside the US, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Peter, send me a PM if you desire.I have scanned the three pages of the catalog where the Holga film is mentioned and/or described and priced.I can attach these 3 images to an email and send them to you.

Officially approved by the Holga factory, this Black and White film emulates the ambiance of the Holga experience. The image quality, grain structure, contrast and spectral sensitivity all are perfectly suited for the surrealistic effects the Holga camera is known."

On page 20

35mm x 24 Exp. ISO 400 ............... $2.69
120 size ISO 400 ................. $2.99

Fingers crossed that this is a pushable emulsion (from fuji, kodak or Ilford), though I doubt it. I guess we'll see!
